Welcome to the Northern Ocean County (NJ) Branch

In 1968, a group of college and university women in the Ocean County area realized that they needed a forum that would meet their needs to gather and form a sisterhood of women with diverse areas of expertise.  This would eventually become the Northern Ocean County Branch of the AAUW.  Since then, the group has evolved to more than 70 members and has actively supported AAUW initiatives and continues to play an important role in the community.  Fundraising to support scholarships, Community Service Projects, informative programming, and a variety of interest groups and social events have become the mainstay of our identity.

New Interest Group Formed
AAUW NOCB launched the Anti-racism Study Group in October 2020. Members read books, articles, and watch videos and movies, and then discuss what they learn about how better to be an anti-racist. Systemic anti-racism includes systems that do not value people of color as much as white, women as much as men, and queer as well as heterosexuals.
We meet Mondays at 11am on zoom every 3 weeks. We began on October 26th and continued on November 16th and December 7th of 2020. All are welcome at any time. Just contact the chairperson, Alice Tarlach, at 732-939-0547 or alicetarlach@comcast.net.
Originating members are Diane Becza, Ann Christensen, Judith Hromoko, Beth Kimber, Maureen Mitchell, Jane Pearlman, Irene Ribaudo and Alice Tarlach.

The AAUW NOCB awards four scholarships annually. Go to our scholarships page for information and applications.

Our branch is thrilled to have participated in the AAUW Tech Trek program held at Stockton University 2017-20.  For more information, follow this link: http://techtrek-nj.aauw.net/
